money and office

The Supreme Court decision re self-funding in political campaigns is interesting in a number of ways. First of all, this confirms the predictions when O’Connor retired that Bush would right-wing it and leverage for money (not actually necessarily the same). Essentially what this decision means is that no matter if your opponent has their own money that’s a multiple of your legally-available funds: tough. Use your mouth. “Different candidates have different strengths,” Justice Alito wrote. “Some are wealthy…”
And the land of the free. Home. Whatever.

You’ll perhaps note I’m being very careful with wording on this one. It’s advisable. It’s the Supreme Court. Keep comments within non-litigable guidelines if any.
