They’re Back…

Most of you won’t (thankfully) remember this article’s mention of AOL. It was an enormous advance over Compuserve and Prodigy, as I remember. [I won’t talk about the days of the closed ‘net and bulletin boards…300 baud modems…and long distance charges.] It was as if some idiot cartoon character were thinking up the way to most annoy you–while tactfully thinking up some legal way to take your money.
What’s happening currently is that people are taking “free gifts” and discovering they aren’t free, amazingly enough. As in the days of AOL, there’s often a lot to click through, and even slow response time to contend with. Do me and yourself a favor. Either click through and read them, or figure it’s a scam–and the latter is [in my opinion] a quite safe bet.
