Standalone A/V Software: Nearly Useless

Maybe that’s hype, but Trend Micro is hardly the only one to say, “Don’t buy an anti-virus program.” What they mean is a suite, which is what I’ve been preaching recently–with the added benefit that everything the article talks about can be had free. There are backup programs free on the ‘net, and they work. Cobian 8 is not, for instance, for backing up (I’m loosely quoting the author); it works well to preserve data. An actual data carries dangers of its own (like preserving an infection of programs, which is simply jolly). The article is short and to the point; I think that the comments are interesting (except mine, which echo this).
