Firefox and the Foxit Add-on

In a word, don’t. This didn’t work smoothly at all. When the process was closed, it kept running in the background. Evidently the developers were aware of problems with this release, since on the rare occasions it performed successfully (or so it seemed) each one was a preceded by a “switch to\try again” option. I couldn’t actually uninstall without shutting all processes down (I must admit I didn’t look that carefully at running processes; I could have shut down everything but the necessary programs)–or a restart or shutdown.
It did uninstall gracefully once rebooted. It was touted as the .pdf reader to end all. I’d agree with that. Just might not be quite the way the developer intended. I ended it.
