PC Tools

First of all, they assured me that the annual re-charging of Spyware Doctor for the paid edition is accompanied by a host of warnings when the date comes due. That makes me a bit easier in mind. The free version is excellent.
They also have a free anti-virus edition. The page you’ll go to if you follow the link doesn’t call it anything more than that. I think that’s a bit fetching in this day and age of high-flown descriptions a mile long. We still have a current subscription to Norton 360. Consistently according to tests all suites and tools have their short-comings, with Kaspersky recently coming out “best” repeatedly. There’s no “free” version beyond a 2-week trial, and it’s expensive. Kaspersky labs have also consistently identified badware first. The “best” achieved is quite consistent. It’s also eighty bucks.

The PC Tools anti-virus is for Windows 32-bit only. No XP Pro. Etc.
