A comment on my thoughts

This isn’t all original thinking.  A large part of it could merely be ascribed to all my association with zen Buddhists, after all.  I was in Japan as a child, and I met many things there; I even stood in the left eye of the Buddha in Kobe.  I often fantasized about asking to become a servant at a zen Buddhist monastery. I did laugh at myself, though. What in the world could a monastery want with a servant?  I learned when I finally began to speak that names and appearances were far more important than the thing itself.

Forgotten Things

Only ONE example.  Isaac Aasimov, the “I, Robot” series.  Virtual assistants abound–from “A” to “Z” [elazny].  In fact, I seem to remember one of the Vance novels even had one.

The point is that assistants basically exist to cut down on traffic.  Unfortunately, that means a process of exclusion of data, and some of the data that is cut is meaningful. (“Infinite merely means one more than you can count.”)

At some point the process is irretrievably damaged.  [Any process involving value.]

Another Brief Note

I’ve been in and out of the hospital since September of last years; the last two stays were via Emergency.  Behavioristic principles were used on me in order to force me to be able to tolerate high levels of pain without any pause.

So what?  I tend to minimize, and even though I know that I don’t have any idea of what the ordinary person can stand (other than things like a PCP telling me “I don’t understand how you can stand that much pain!”  I’m sorry, it’s not a measuring point, and if “10” on a 1-10 scale, 10 the most pain–generally described as ‘the one where you can’t do anything except scream and hopefully pass out’ and…I’ve never been there.  The leg  broken in two wasn’t much of a support, but it was even once the new cast was once again sodden with blood.  It’s called a compound fracture.  Of the shin.

So what=the first time at Emergency I couldn’t grade the pain as a 10–my version–so they took a look at blood counts and sent me on my way.  The second time, one week later, I stayed for most of a week (I’m back on solid foods, et cetera).

I actually have at least 10,000 words stored away for writing here and now and I just don’t have a fraction of the energy needed for transcription.  If only I thought in English! but then again, come to think of it, that’s rather a contradiction in terms.

For the time being, the opening statement is something like this (I’ll  leave quote marks to the reader rather than he who transcribes):   [sorry, bad punctuation]

A language is a very specialized representational set.  First of all, it’s a system.  This means that it has internal rules (think of grammar, spelling, punctuation, specialized and generalized usages for starts) which do not correspond exactly to qualities in that which is being represented.  If it isn’t backed up by telepathy (which doesn’t appear to be a system!) the relationship between word and ‘object’ is accomplished by ‘pointing’ and the energizing principle seems to be the one instinct that humans haves–copying those who seem similar to  themselves.  Because it is a system the represented set should also have rules which are difficult to represent while following the rules that…make the represented set.  One of the primary indications that what is  being examined is a system–or to use some different words (more accurate in this case) that what is being examined is a set of objects and/or incidents which are causally related.  The main and polarizing assumption there is of course simply that causation is a valid concept.  That, of all the things science via the empirical method has caused (I mean that is, of course, given that anything can cause something else) is the  possibility of a closer examination of things like causation and thus of free will.   One demand is the constant attempt to observe via the senses rather than the beliefs and it’s obviously the hardest.

And that is the first tiny fragment.  To examine that at all thoroughly took a bit over 20 years and I don’t think that this is a part of my thoughts that I could ever regard as finished.

This is automatically protected by Commonlaw Copyright–and the newer versions as well, of course.  I encourage usage of the concepts.  I’d just like attribution and also the ability thereby to clarify concepts I’ve employed which have no dependable relationship to the usual lingual interface.

Book of Sayings (On Truth)

Book of Sayings (3)

about names and thought*

today there are hurried motions
in no direction, though
that sullen half-silence turns
quickly to rage if even slightly

no speech;
the crowd grumbles and snarls
wordlessly; it does not name

but without names it cannot speak
nor therefore think. has
it somehow cast me out?

i wonder for a moment.
then i realize again
my namelessness
*or, when i learned to speak
i forgot all truth

It’s possible I’m re-posting this.  This is very much about what’s happening now.  It was written with a view to now.  And it was written and typed on…the 27th of January, this year.

Personalized Searches

Or “I want to stick with only what I know, I absolutely am not looking for anything I don’t know or have, and I certainly don’t want to know about a service or product that I haven’t just searched for, unless I want my entire search history to be kept permanently.”

The day just arrived, for me.  Do a Google, and examine the choices.  Then don’t forget to check “all” as many times as necessary, and if it’s every time–QUIT USING GOOGLE.

This is the first in an unending series of violations (think sodomy rape) gifted on us by our [Republican] Congress.  You have no right to privacy.  It is not an accident that we have the highest per capita amount of prisoners and that it will rapidly increase.

Funny story, I once thought I had prevented this from happening.

At least they’re protecting the world from threats like welchers, right?  Well, poor ones anyway.  I mean, terrorists.  [That amounts to an implicit comment on motivation in this case and I stand by it.  Through experience and research and I cannot elaborate.]

Welcher; fairly ancient slang for someone who doesn’t pay debts.  Incorrectly noted on the web except in origin; it was part of sailor slang through the mid-70s and lived on after that in the slang of certain types of criminals in certain areas.

I’m still here, but….

I once again got hacked, while setting up a computer–the one where /C: drive failed–again.  Evidently it was because I didn’t set up a non-Windows AV immediately but let Windows Defender handle it when I just had to get on the internet.  At the exact moment that someone had disabled real-time protection on [my chosen AV for that machine at that moment] and completely disabled Windows Defender I attempted a scan and failed.  I’m sure I know when and I did what I could, but with the information I had it was TIME THEN to do a refresh, keeping my files but no software.

I’m getting close to the point of keeping all but one computer-based Windows OS off the internet on the whole and using the laptop for that connect.  There are a number of options to explore.  Anyway I’m happy I caught it within (as I said) moments literally of the occurrence.  I would say there’s a large possibility of it having been ransomware.

Back from the twilight

This is only a short entry.  I have hesitated recently because I wasn’t perfectly sure I could continue to pay for the site; however, the deppening (that’s Johnny Depp getting deeper…or else a wry tribute to the misspelling that is a part of initial writing) emotive involvement of the country in Mr. Trump (and with both sides backward-looking to Obama and Clinton as entirely contributory to…either the good shape or the bad shape we’re in; no one at all seems able to widen their vision of “cause” [which is why the hypothesis of cause and effect is an hypothesis, not even a theory] and his supporters and non-supporters to enemies outright…  Began the silence.  I felt as of mid-December that Trump would win. I wrote a relatively long piece.  I couldn’t post it.  I’m sure I threw it away.

Later today or else tomorrow I will post something from Voices and continue on.  Another contributing factor was that…of 3 Windows (Dell) machines…3 went down.  The XPS 2720 was a hard drive (C:) and will merit an article.  The Dell Optiplex 3020 was a momentary victim of beta-testing.  The Alienware is still down but at least I’ve finally gotten it to recognize it’s on a network.  Word to the wise; make sure that you do a system image before doing internet optimization.  And (yes, I did it deliberately) if you have two optimization programs, and you feel you have to optimize your internet connections–do it only with one of them and remember which one it is.  However, with both Dell and HP (Alienware is Dell) I suggest using the computer apps themselves to optimize internet connections and leave it at that rather than having virtual adapters (having an unplugged virtual ethernet connect adapter is truly WEIRD).

Anyway, I am here.  I also underwent a complete withdrawal from Carbamazepine/Tegretol XR which was bound to have mental/psychological complications and did, but I had no seizures in consequence and thank God I have one less drug to take.

In brief, HI!

Because of TheDonald, I long for reality

on longing for reality and other foolhardy things

separated, the changes
refract and reflect the light
promising clear sight
and other most assuredly

imaginary things
(i’ve even heard “truth”

I have never before used my art explicitly on current events.  Because there are too many exact replications of the rise of the Nazi party into dominance, I refrain no longer.  I will do as well as I can to avoid polemic.  My pursuit is of the rational and beautiful (though the subject is often no thing of beauty) and most of all–in poetry–of concision in pursuing my goal, which is…I have to admit it, I still pursue it–truth.

Long Absence

A car accident started the lapse, then the brain scan (EEG to be precise, not MRI) in order to be weaned off a rather nasty drug (anti-convulsive, not a painkiller–rather the reverse–basically poisonous) which was initially used as an antidepressant.  That means there are mental and emotional effects; as it turns out I’m less likely to have seizures now, but that’s another story.  There were also some interesting family happenings (“May you live in interesting times,” as in), and some real threats to veterans and those collecting social security.  A portion of my past revealed itself to me yet again; however, detailing it would not be in my favor.  It’s best if I seem normally unconscious of various things.

Nothing in the article is untrue, exactly.  What is true is freely available in the public domain.  What isn’t known and therefore isn’t said…is the important part, and the reason I’m pointing this out is…the real ‘purpose’ of the article is the reacquaint those who do know with how far out of touch ‘media people’ are with certain realities and how immensely dangerous it would be to even moderately correct the evident misapprehensions on the part of the author.  One hint; the biggest reasons aren’t even mentioned.  Guess what.  I shan’t be the first to tell one word more, if I ever shall, which I  doubt. Almost undoubtedly Snowden knew about me (not by name) and thought I was heroic, another example of why I know he’s an ass.
