sudden wisdom

sudden wisdom

having thought, far too often
to love or know or understand
to name, to limit

confronted by the thought
of you, i’ve no response.

Very, very occasionally I think I approach what I mean.  But then that may well be sheer self-illusionment.

worldmark

worldmark

the world begins
just outside my door.
here: see the mark? i’ve traced it

quite clearly, i think.

do you understand
why so often
i keep my door so firmly closed?

Written days before I entered the Navy in August of 1971.

Odd, it seems particularly applicable now in these days of the media screaming about Trump, pro and con, and constructing a consequently distorted image–with the sole intent of selling more “news”.

My new definition of ‘news’; a current, popularized icon-oriented [icon: “A conventional religious painting in oil on a small wooden panel; venerated in the Eastern Church.”–a stylistic representation of a person that represents a form of belief; quite often they were used in the form of triptychs from what I’ve seen and read] which exists for the sole purpose of acquiring power or value.

Unfortunately that statement will inevitably please the naive members of both sides and quite possibly even the members of various news-oriented media.

Media is the plural of medium; language is a medium; a medium is necessary for any and all forms of communication.  Those who simply refer to the  media generally don’t know that the root word exists and haven’t a clue as to what it might mean.

spring

spring

in this early
drought-promising Spring,
seeing echoes
of your face and others, and

other failed dreams, i
know there shall be other
hellos and other foreknown
goodbyes;

that, quite certainly,
in some sudden tomorrow, pride
and need and pain
will combine somehow with loneliness
to make another illusion
of love and untimely kisses
not so much begun as

recognized…i know
o dream truly dies, and there’s
the rub of’t. i dream
without belief.

in this too-early, dry
Spring, reviewing
past loves and past mistakes, i have
no great hopes for Summer.

*of’t=of it=abandoned contraction, also a pun on ‘oft’, which would actually require a preceding comma

It was written long ago.  My dreams now are often of the relief of ending, rather than constant and constantly increasing pain, while fighting desperately to keep on walking, and trying not to talk of pain.  I haven’t been succeeding in that lately, but I have managed to increasingly approach nearer to silence in my personal life.

The Final and Absolute TRUTH

In the spring of that year
we journeyed to hear
the great one’s song.
Many miles and desolate…
three died, on the way.
(We placed crude crosses
on their graves.
We crossed their arms.
We did not mourn,
nor speak.)

And freeway became
hiway became
road became…
potholes and dirt, horses…
on our way to the mountain,
on the way
to the Enlightened.

II.
The journey
changed us.
That
I must admit.
Faces
become more grim-
set, stride
more unpausing…

In light must
darkness
always die…
night’s masks
aren’t morning’s, nor is truth
the drunkard’s cry.

…We strode on.
Ten thousand passers-by, ten
thousand strangers, faces
glimpsed and then
forgotten.

III.

We left
the cities, their lands,
their people.
Paths
became crooked, perspectives
unclear,
shortened, half
illusion.

(Our feet became
blistered.)
We spoke little.
Words
were for other times
and others’ truths.

IV.

When we arrived
we stood before him
speechless, joined
in his laughter
merely, and then
returned.

We would
educate
our peoples, lead
them to
the sky.

…Excuse my straightjacket.
They
think i’m
insane!

I rarely use that many emphases but I left it, over 40 years.  It’s odd it seems particularly applicable now; however, I won’t say why or how. Yes, social psychology does apply, incidentally.

Wordlessness

That’s where I approximately am.  I am thinking, rather intensely, it’s just that the thought is rarely in terms [solely] of words and presumable language.  More than that at this level of thought no one else wants to hear it, in my 50 years or so of experience.

And then I rediscover how much more I can hear–and even think–if I avoid words, except in poems and the occasional tidbit.  I’m also finally studying ubuntu and going toward a good position to basically challenge for a master’s in some skyence typo science or other.

I’m still here, but….

I once again got hacked, while setting up a computer–the one where /C: drive failed–again.  Evidently it was because I didn’t set up a non-Windows AV immediately but let Windows Defender handle it when I just had to get on the internet.  At the exact moment that someone had disabled real-time protection on [my chosen AV for that machine at that moment] and completely disabled Windows Defender I attempted a scan and failed.  I’m sure I know when and I did what I could, but with the information I had it was TIME THEN to do a refresh, keeping my files but no software.

I’m getting close to the point of keeping all but one computer-based Windows OS off the internet on the whole and using the laptop for that connect.  There are a number of options to explore.  Anyway I’m happy I caught it within (as I said) moments literally of the occurrence.  I would say there’s a large possibility of it having been ransomware.

An Entry

I realized I really should make an entry today, so here it is;

“Remember, Death is Nature’s way of telling you to slow down.”
