Chrome
At last report, I was getting a (somewhat specious) error every time I opened Chrome. Remember, it’s still in beta. That was from the latest update; I’m awaiting some sort of news, otherwise I’ll probably try it again at about the end of the week. Currently it’s completely uninstalled from my computer. Speaking of uninstalls, never forget CCleaner; the link is actually to the update page. Both tools I saw mentioned there (file recovery and Defraggler–defrag tool) are legitimate as well. And even if you do an uninstall from CCleaner, I recommend you use it for its stated purpose, because as far as I know no uninstaller is perfect; it’s just that CCleaner gives you a couple of seconds wait rather than a minute or so to populate the friggin’ list.

More on Pogo Beta
I’m pretty much doing this as I go, for a number of reasons. Pretty soon I’m going to contact these guys and it would be nice to remember what I’m talking about. Making entries in more than one style in more than one blog will help. More than that, I can work on my own version of a presentation, which I’m just yawning toward right now. Their tutorials are mind-numbingly dull, not least because they’re so careful not to blow their own horn. Another is their poorly-hidden contempt for anyone who isn’t a programmer, preferably from their camp.
A big plus for Pogo is the ability to edit history and bookmarking fairly easily. Plus there’s more cueing than just an uninformative web page title, which most if not all of us have encountered. I’m beginning to think that without all the hemming and hawing and some cool icons, this is unlikely to disturb Zeus or even Jehovah. It was the latter that was more crotchety, right? Oh god. It looks like I may have some Catholic storm troopers outside. Time to use the pot part of my medication.

AT & T Pogo
From the looks and feel of this (in the beta edition no less), I think this would be an excellent alternative/second browser. It also has the feel of a lot of sites and services out there attempting to nominally make profit and actually simply manage to connect people and knowledge. That would fit in rather well with my ramblings about consciousness being after all kind of a shadow in the mirror, the actual consciousness reflected by language and particularly its implications…and quite certainly all human evolution occurring by means of language and a sort of “hive mind”. Whether or not individual consciousness impacts group consciousness is at least as arguable as anything else, from the mind of god to astral daylilies or whatever. What I mean by it fitting in is that if I’m right we will make another attempt at a sort of tower of Babel. Let’s hope we do better than is reported we did before.
