The Supreme Court’s Waning Influence Abroad

The New York Times article about this has an underlying tone of shock and outrage.  The most telling part of the story is this:

“One of our great exports used to be constitutional law,” said Anne-Marie Slaughter, the dean of the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton. “We are losing one of the greatest bully pulpits we have ever had.”

Bully for us bullies.  “Supreme Court?”  The connotations involved are appalling.  And the international view of Americans (below that of Australians by considerable, mind you) is conceivably an aspect.  Not true, of course.  We’re the torch-carriers for the world of truth, freedom, democracy and Sarah Palin.
